On Thursday 27th February 2020, the Head College Network, Mr Patrick Decelis, spent the day at Mellieħa Primary. During his visit, Mr Decelis, had a meeting with the clerk and the minor staff and thanked them for their hard work and commitment. They discussed how their proactivity could make a big difference. He also had a meeting with the Senior Leadership Team which revolved around the external review process leading to School Development Planning and challenges faced by school.
The class visits led to interesting discussions with educators and students. Well done to MRC Mellieħa Primary for the serene educational atmosphere.
A day at St Paul’s Bay Primary
On Tuesday 18th February 2020, the Head College Network, Mr Patrick Decelis, spent the day at St Paul’s Bay Primary. He spoke to all students and staff during the morning assembly. He passed on the message to help those who might feel lonely. The theme at MRC this year is Stronger Together.
During his visit, Mr Decelis, had a meeting with the clerks and the minor staff and thanked them for their hard work and commitment. He also had a meeting with the Senior Leadership Team. This revolved around the internal review process leading to School Development Planning and challenges faced by school especially now that preparations for the opening of MRC Qawra Primary are under way.
Afterwards class visits led to interesting discussions with educators and students. Well done to MRC St Paul’s Bay Primary for a positive educational atmosphere.
Managing with Leadership Course
Maria Regina College Centre for Continuous Professional Development organised a two day course: Managing with Leadership. The course was held on 12th and 20th February 2020 and was facilitated by Mr Jesmond Friggieri. Through interactive workshops, participants gained insight on the differences between management and leadership and how these intermingle in our day-to-day operations. Moreover the course will provide insights on the crucial skills required to enhance an organisation’s performance.
At the beginning of the first day, Dr Frank Fabri introduced the course reiterating the importance of Continuous Professional Development and also about tackling such a subject. He provided tangible examples of how good leadership led to much needed reforms in the Education Sector in Malta.
Mr Decelis, Head of MR College Network, thanked Dr Fabri and introduced the course, the topic and Mr Friggieri.
First year NQTs/NRTs seminar
On Friday 31st january 2020, another fruitful meeting was held with first year NQTs/NRTs. Mr Patrick Decelis, Head College Network emphasized the importance of the four pillars of education and of giving individual attention and quality education to all students. NQTs/NRTs had time to share good practices together and also to talk about challenges they are facing.
A day at Naxxar Primary
On Friday 31st January, 2020, the Head College Network, Mr Patrick Decelis, spent the day at Naxxar Primary and participated in an original assembly coordinated by Music teacher Ms Miriam Christine Borg. After a meeting with the school Senior Leadership Team revolving about the internal review process leading to School Development Planning, class visits led to interesting discussions with class staff and students. Well done to MRC Naxxar Primary for a happy educational atmosphere.
Mini Options fair at Naxxar Middle School
On Tuesday 28th January 2020, Maria Regina College organised an Options event at Naxxar Middle school. During this occasion, Year 8 students had the opportunity to go around the various stands and ask about the subjects which will be offered in the My Journey Options Applications form. They also had the opportunity to ask about those subjects which interest them. Together with advice from Guidance teachers this will help them make a well informed decision when it comes to their option choice.

Parental Meeting about Subjects Choice for Yr 9
On Tuesday 28th January 2020, the Northern Cluster organised a meeting for Yr 8 parents about Subject Choice for Year 9. This was held at MRC Mosta Secondary Zokrija. Mr Tano Bugeja, Director for Curriculum addressed the parents. Mr Patrick Decelis, MRC Head College Network explained the importance of parental role in such decisions, hence the importance of being informed through such meetings.
For those who couldn’t make it today, may I remind you that two other Cluster meetings will be held in Maltese. One will be held tomorrow, 29th January, at SNC Had Dingli Secondary at 9.00am and another one at SCC Pembroke Secondary on Thursday 30th Jan at 5.30pm.
First Lady’s visit at Mosta A primary
The first lady, Mrs Miriam Vella’s visit to Maria Regina College Mosta Primary A on 26th November 2019. The visit promoted the Piggy Bank. Students presented a short play with the theme Stronger Together to highlight the importance of solidarity.

Follow-up seminar with Master Wei Ling Yi in connection with the Maria Regina College and YEP Malta project.
Course for Parents whose children are aged between 1 and 5yrs
The Lifelong Learning department in collaboration with Maria Regina College organised a 4 sessions course for parents whose children are aged between 1 and 5 years to help them understand how to deal with children at such a tender age. Parents are having the opportunity to discuss about the challenges they are facing.
