MRC Centre for CPD organised a teambuilding activity which was held at the Wardija Young Adult Resource Centre on 19th April 2017. Participants were all the College Administration Centre Staff and the Psycho-social team members. A full programme was well prepared for this day by College Principal Mr Patrick Decelis. It was made up of three parts – the first focused on Personal Learning Traits, featuring the Let me Learn Process which was facilitated by Dr Colin Calleja and Ms Graziella Vassallo Theuma. Days before this event, all participants took an online assessment to understand the way they learn best. During the session the results were discussed and these were further demonstrated during a specific task we all needed to carry out whilst being observed. There were three working groups and the input we each gave in the working group, was observed and was shared in the plenary session. The way we worked in our group corroborated with the results obtained in the online assessment. This first part of the programme gave an insight to each of us about our uniqueness and strengths.
The second part of the programme focused on our culinary skills. A few days prior to the activity all participants were divided into two groups, one group planned to prepare a starter and a dessert and group 2 had to prepare a main course. It must be said that the result was truly scrumptious. No details were spared!
Last but not least, a team building exercise whereby Mr Decelis, challenged us to create a chair, with materials provided, practically only cardboard. It had to support him for at least 2 minutes. Needless to say it was not easy…and only one of the three chairs created could stand the challenge without risking Mr Decelis’ safety! One of the chairs collapsed even before Mr Decelis tried sitting on it!
It was a day to remember especially with the beautiful weather and the surrounding gardens. Such activities should be organized regularly in order to strengthen our team and to grant us the chance to put aside our daily challenges.
