Secondary Students Leadership Seminar

Tuesday 26th November, was a special occasion for some 45 students aged 11-16 years and hailing from the Middle School, two Secondary schools, Induction Hub and Wardija Resource Centre. The seminar started at 09:30 with students introducing their various leadership roles within their respective Maria Regina College schools. A power point presentation was facilitated by a teacher from the Wardija Resource Centre to support the students in the Students Council and to acclaim their entrepreneurial skills, namely souvenir making, olive oil and honey making among others.
Ice-breaking activities set up and coordinated by Ms Alexandra Ebejer and Ms Mary Rose Cordina, Education Officers responsible for Curriculum at MRC allowed all five groups of participating students to think of ways how best to discuss the activity at hand, how to reflect and how to inspire others with their leadership skills.
Representatives from Aġenzija Żgħażagħ were special guests during this seminar and they hosted two parallel workshops: one for the teachers and another one for the students. Mr Decelis, Head of College Network intervened during the last session of the workshop acknowledging the potential of these students in coming forward during Eko Skola, Student Councils, Drama Groups etc.
A group activity concluded the seminar by 12:15 whereby through a booklet with information about 10 renowned leaders in the world, students were asked to find valued characteristics among these leaders and match them to their own perspectives of leadership qualities.
All participants will be awarded a certificate by the MRC Centre for CPD.
